About this book
Lafcadio Hearn is by Nina H. Kennard and contains some letters from Lafcadio Hearn to his half-sister, Mrs. Atkinson. The preface says that when Death has set his seal on an eminent man's career, there is a not unnatural curiosity to know something of his life, as revealed by himself, particularly in letters to intimate friends. The preface cites the saying that all biography ought, as much as possible, to be autobiography.
Charles Hearn's mother and an unmarried aunt, Susan, are said to have lived in Dublin at Gardner's Place. The text says all the Hearns belonging to the Westmeath branch of the family were members of the Irish Protestant squirearchy. The text says Hearn's marriage, as his widow told us, took place early in the year of 1891.
