About this book

Lord Randolph Churchill is presented in two volumes, with separate contents and illustration lists for each volume and an index. A letter headed “Lord Randolph to his Mother” reports improved examination performance while asking that expectations should not be too high. The examination letter describes the remaining work as oral rather than written and considers that part the hardest.

The political account says Lord Randolph Churchill persuaded the Committee to modify its report to remove what were believed to be Lord Salisbury’s objections. The account of party organisation describes a reply from Lord Salisbury that strictly limited the National Union’s functions and provided for complete control by the Central Committee. The taxation correspondence contrasts the three millions ratepayers used to receive from taxes with the more than five millions they would receive under the writer’s scheme.

Winston Churchill

Winston Churchill (1874-1965) is remembered as Britain's wartime prime minister, but he was also a soldier, journalist, historian, and prolific author who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953. Savrola, written in his twenties, was his only novel among a vast body of nonfiction.
