Madge Morton's Victory

Madge Morton's Victory is by Amy D. V. Chalmers, and its contents list names chapters such as Commencement Day at Miss Tolliver’s, Tania, a Princess and Captain Jules, Deep Sea Diver. More chapter titles are A Mischievous Mermaid, The Wreck of the “Water Witch” and A Strange Pearl.

Madge gives a valedictory address at the commencement exercises of a girls’ school, speaking of Friendship, what it meant to a girl at school and what it must mean to a woman. Phil, listening to her chum's voice with eyes misty with tears, sees the arch above her friend's head seem to sway lightly from side to side. An old sea captain promises to help find someone and goes into the house for his diver's suit, leaving Madge to wonder why the few words she had spoken concerning her father had affected him so strangely. Madge could not comprehend all of this at once, and realized only that, after being without any parents, she had suddenly come into two fathers at the same time.
