Memoir of the Services of the Bengal Artillery describes the corps from its formation to the time of writing, with some account of its internal organization. An account of an officer’s service describes his improvement in tactics through strict attention to duty, interest in his profession, and the ardour with which he pursued its branches. The account credits occasions of actual service with advancing the officer’s practice.
An account of a military action records sixty-seven cannon, upwards of two hundred camel swivels, numerous standards and vast munitions left in the victors’ possession. A battle account describes Lieutenant Tilfer and the artillerymen and lascars at the guns being cut down to a man, with great confusion for a time.
