About this book
C. B. Norman, formerly of the 90th Light Infantry and Indian Staff Corps, covers battle honours from Tangier, 1662, to the start of the reign of King Edward VII. The book has maps and illustrations and is dedicated to the honoured memory of the officers and men who have fallen in defence of their country. Its alphabetical list of honours begins Abu Klea, Abyssinia, Aden, Afghanistan.
The Gibraltar entry, 1779 to 1783, carries a castle and key and a motto, and names the Suffolk, Dorset, Northampton, Essex and Highland Light Infantry regiments as those allowed to bear it. The text says Eliott had a garrison of 5,382 of all ranks. Chapter XXV covers the North-West Indian Frontier, 1895 to 1897, from the Defence of Chitral to Malakand, Samana and Tirah.
