About this book
The narrator of Memories of the Russian Court recalls receiving permission to attend special services for the Imperial Family in the palace church and finding solace in them. The recollection of Princess Orbeliani describes an invalid whose bravery and kindness the narrator acknowledges despite comments about an invitation to a dancing lesson. The narrator's farewell to the Empress takes place in the nursery, where the Empress receives the visitor with the baby Tsarevitch in her arms.
The account of illness records a doctor's diagnosis of a bad case of measles. The recollection of nursing describes the Empress wearing a nurse's uniform and spending the succeeding days between her children's rooms and the narrator's.
