Mercy Street is a novel by Jennifer Haigh. It is a story about the lives of people who intersect at a women’s clinic in Boston. The main character, Claudia, has been counseling patients at Mercy Street for almost a decade. The clinic offers more than just health care to its patients, it is a second chance for many. However, outside the clinic, the reality is different. Anonymous threats are frequent and a small group of anti-abortion demonstrators appears each morning at its door.
