About this book

Mink Trapping is a book of instruction giving many methods of trapping, edited by A. R. Harding. The contents list General Information, Mink and Their Habits, Size and Care of Skins and Indian Methods, among others. A chapter called Mink and Their Habits says the favorite haunts are along marshy shores of lakes, rivers, creeks and other swampy places, and where muskrats are plenty there you are almost sure to find mink.

The writer says that to catch mink successfully you must have open water, and very seldom sets for mink when water is all frozen up. The writer asks whether you ever noticed that you made your best catch of mink on a snowy or rainy night, and answers that your tracks and scent were either washed out or covered up by snow. One trap described has jaws made of two pieces of board three inches wide and about three and a half feet long, resting edgeways one on the other and held firmly by four posts driven in the ground.
