About this book
Miss Eden's Letters is a collection of letters, with a preface that thanks several people for the loan of letters in the book. One letter is headed Eden Farm, August 11 [1815], from Miss Eden to Lord Auckland and addressed to My dearest George. It talks about buying sheep, a trip to Smithfield, an umbrella and a Tilbury, and a meeting of the Sunday Schools at Bromley.
In another passage the writer describes filling letters to Lord Minto and similar correspondents with anecdotes and proper names, and worries about a translation headed Intercepted Correspondence copied from a Carlist paper, with Spain mentioned. One passage mentions Waterloo, Brussels and Lady Selkirk. A long index lists people with page numbers,.
