Mya’s First Ride

M.L. Patterson writes a small series of children’s books featuring Mya, a young puppy who keeps trying things she’s not quite sized for. Mya’s First Ride is exactly what it sounds like. Mya wants to ride a horse like the older animals do, and the book follows her trying to figure it out.

The text is short, the illustrations carry most of the storytelling weight, and there’s a gentle lesson about patience and asking for help when something is too big to handle alone.
