About this book
Napoleon and His Court is a book by C. S. Forester, with sixteen illustrations. The contents list names, among others, What Might Have Been, Spots in the Sun and St. Helena. The writer asks whether, with portraits and pictures innumerable, we are any nearer to the man himself. The writer says that Napoleon in all his life never had a friend, and that from his adolescence to his death there was nobody to whom he could speak unguardedly.
The text says that none of the Bonaparte family was as long-lived as Napoleon's mother, and calls Maria Letizia Ramolino certainly one of the greatest women of the period. The text says that Caroline endured her loneliness for a little while longer, but died in 1839, only fifty-six at her death.
