About this book

Mrs. De Peyster tells Olivetta that going to Europe is “hardly a pleasure” but “a duty one owes one's social position”. Mrs. De Peyster asks Olivetta, “have you been allowing M. Dubois to pay you any more attention?”, and Olivetta cries, “No, no, of course not.” The contents list includes, among others, the chapters “THE MAN IN THE CELLULOID COLLAR” and “A QUESTION OF IDENTITY”.

A scene mentions a Raphael: “There's a Raphael that the Metropolitan is solemnly proud of. It cost Morgan a hundred and fifty thousand dollars. It cost me an even five hundred to have it made.” Olivetta cries frantically, “I tell you she's an impostor!” and “Don't you let her in!” Jack exclaims, “But we're all ready for the ceremony!” and adds “There are a dozen reporters downstairs”.
