Paul Broca (1824-1880) was a physician, anatomist and anthropologist from France. He researched Broca's area, a part of the frontal lobe named after him that is involved with language, and found lesions in the left frontal region in patients with aphasia. He was named Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1876 and Officer in 1879.
