About this book

People You Know is a book by George Ade. The preface says the book is "made up of plain observations concerning people who live just around the corner." The preface adds that these fables "are written in the colloquial American language." One fable has a man who is "a Reformed Man", and "On the third Day he was cracking his Whip and begging People to get up on the Wagon with him." One fable carries the moral "Even the Best cannot pick them every Whirl out of the Box." Another fable begins "Once there was a Husband who was stuck on Plain Living and Home Comforts." A man and his wife figure that they "could do Niagara, Thousand Islands, Atlantic City, The Mammoth Cave and cover the Great Lakes."
