About this book
The title page reads Philip Steele of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police by James Oliver Curwood, New York 1911. The contents list names chapters, among others The Hyacinth Letter and The Silken Scarf. The text describes a skull on a little shelf above the fire.
Steele mutters that he is ordered up to join Nome, the man who did this. A notice about a cabin carries the line 'Fill your gizzard but not your pockets' and is signed Steele, Northwest Mounted. Philip found his own endurance fast reaching the ebbing point, and the text says he had traveled sixty miles in a day and a half, with his legs and back beginning to show signs of the strain. The text says Philip believed she did not hear the words of love he whispered in her hair.
