About this book
Philosophy and Religion is a set of Six Lectures Delivered at Cambridge by Hastings Rashdall. The general introduction to the series says man has no deeper or wider interest than theology. Among others, the contents list gives Lecture IV, Difficulties and Objections, which asks whether the world is created and says there may or may not be a beginning of the particular series of physical events constituting our world.
The contents list also gives, among its corollaries, that belief in the objectivity of our moral judgements logically implies belief in God. The text says that when you try to think of God as contemplating the whole series as really present altogether, the series is no longer a time-series. The text gives a view that all through the ages God has gone on revealing Himself more and more in human consciousness, especially through the prophets and other exceptionally inspired men.
