About this book
Psychology is a book by Robert Sessions Woodworth. It defines psychology as the science of the conscious and near-conscious activities of living individuals, and says the psychologist is a seeker after the facts, not a judge who praises or blames.
One passage describes how a psychologist working in a children's court tries to understand a child rather than scold or exhort him. A later passage turns from native traits to acquired reactions, and says that acquired reactions are modified native ones. The author proposes to work from observed facts toward the general laws of association, rather than start from the laws. Another passage deals with suggestion and the subject's reactions to it.
