Representation of Deities of the Maya Manuscripts is the landmark study by Paul Schellhas (1859-1945), the German scholar who first systematically catalogued the gods of the Maya codices, labelling them God A, God B, and so on, a naming system epigraphers still use today. Working from the Dresden, Madrid, and Paris codices, Schellhas laid groundwork for all later Maya iconography. The book is a foundation text of Mayanist studies.
