About the author

Randolph Caldecott

Randolph Caldecott transformed familiar rhymes into picture narratives in which gesture, pacing, and comic detail carry as much meaning as the words. The listing Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury X points to his illustrated Ride a Cock-Horse to Banbury Cross, while The Fox Jumps Over The Parson’s Gate shows his lively treatment of a traditional hunting song.
