About this book
The ritual sets out obligations based on honour and reciprocal duties between Masons and the wives, daughters, mothers, widows and sisters of Masons to whom benefits are due. The rules describe the voluntarily assumed obligation of the Order as perpetual, with no release from its force. The ballot for candidates for degrees or membership must be unanimous, without debate, and kept inviolably secret.
Every Subordinate Chapter must have a legally issued Charter or Dispensation always present at its meetings for the chapter to act legally. The account of signs associates Esther's sign with Queen Esther saluting the king and reminding him of his promise. Ruth describes yellow as symbolising constancy and teaching faithful obedience to the demands of honour and justice.
