Rock Climbing in the English Lake District is the 1897 classic by Owen Glynne Jones (1867-1899), the Welsh schoolmaster who was one of the boldest pioneers of British rock climbing as a sport in its own right. His detailed routes and dramatic photographs by the Abraham brothers helped launch modern climbing in the Lakes. Jones died in a fall in the Alps at thirty-two, but his book inspired generations to the crags. It is a foundation text of British mountaineering. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
