Science and Morals and Other Essays is by Bertram Coghill Alan Windle. The opening note says the essays have all in one form or another appeared elsewhere, and that some of them appear as they were published while others have been almost rewritten. The contents list names sections such as The Gospel of Science, Science as a Rule of Life, Theophobia and Nemesis and Within and Without the System, among others.
One passage says that nothing is more clear than the logical sequence that, if you have a law, someone must have made it. The text says a supposititious conversation illustrates the confusion which exists in many minds as to the point at issue. The text says one science is entitled to contradict another, just as one scientific man is entitled to contradict another on a question of fact.
