Shantytown

Shantytown Book is a contemporary fiction novel by César Aira, that sends the readers into the heart of a Buenos Aires slum. The protagonist, Maxi, is a middle-class youth who finds purpose in helping the slum’s garbage pickers. His actions, however, attract the attention of a corrupt and ruthless policeman.
