About this book
Sniping in France comes with notes on the scientific training of scouts, observers, and snipers. The writer says that on first coming into the First Army area, the main point to strike the writer was the difference between the trenches where the writer's work now lay and those of the Third Army. The text says the Welsh were very good indeed, their 38th Division keeping a special sniper’s book, and their sniping officer, Captain Johnson, was very able.
The writer remembers once being in the trenches at Ploegsteert Wood, where the Saxons were against us. A section headed Formations says nothing definite can be laid down, as, of necessity, formations will vary with the prevailing conditions. The writer says an officer who attended the school became the writer's assistant, Lieut. N. Hands, of the 11th Warwickshire Regiment.
