About this book
Some Naval Yarns is by Mordaunt Hall, with a preface by Lady Beatty. The preface speaks of accounts of the work continually and unceasingly being carried on by the gallant officers and men of the Royal Navy. The preface says that a New York journalist has had the opportunity of witnessing a part of the titanic task of the courageous sea-fighters.
A speaker describes a seaplane flight with two pilots and an observer in the machine. One passage describes a mess where servants come along each side of the great table and, at a given word, whisk the tablecloth from the shiny mahogany before the toast to the King is offered. One scene has the German officer pocket a document, while his men had fixed bombs in vital parts aboard the passenger craft, and the order was given to abandon ship.
