Sources of the Synoptic Gospels is a book by Carl Safford Patton. The title page describes the book as a thesis submitted to the faculty of the Department of Literature, Science, and the Arts of the University of Michigan, for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, printed August, 1915.
The text says that Luke has transposed two brief sections of Mark, because, it is evident, by so doing he secures a better introduction to his Sermon on the Level Place. The writer says that in the whole section, aside from one verse, there are so few deviations, easily accounted for on the part either of Matthew or Luke, that he inclines to assign the section simply to Q. An alphabetical list with page numbers includes, among others, entries for Nazareth, preaching in, Offences, and Omission of Marcan material by both Matthew and Luke.
