Studies in Spermatogenesis presents the research of Nettie Stevens (1861-1912), the American geneticist whose work on the mealworm established that sex is determined by chromosomes, the X and Y. Published by the Carnegie Institution, the studies are among the foundation papers of modern genetics, though Stevens long received less credit than her male contemporaries for the discovery. She came to science late and died early, but her chromosome work changed biology. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
