About this book
The Aboriginal Population of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, California is by Sherburne Friend Cook. The contents list, among others, the Fages-Crespi Expedition, the Anza-Font Expedition, the Cañizares Expedition and exploratory and punitive expeditions, 1776-1811. The text says that on March 29, Crespi and Fages continued along the shore, reaching the western end of Carquinez Strait.
A quoted line says that in one part of a day's march the travellers came to five large villages of very wild heathen. Near Wildcat Creek, a quoted line says a good village of heathen, very fair and bearded, was found. The text reasons from distances that a stream called San Juan de la Cruz can have been no other than San Lorenzo Creek.
