Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen

Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen (c. 1621-1676) was a German writer who served as a soldier and later worked as a magistrate. Drawing on his firsthand experience of the Thirty Years' War, he created the Simplicius cycle, works that shaped the German novel for generations.
