About this book
Few stories have traveled as far or lasted as long as the fables credited to Aesop, and this collection gathers dozens of them in plain, friendly prose for young readers. Here are the familiar favorites, the tortoise who outlasts the boastful hare, the ant who stores food while the grasshopper sings, the fox who decides the grapes were sour anyway, along with many lesser-known tales. Each is brief, and each carries a lesson about pride, patience, greed, or kindness that a child can turn over and remember. The animals talk and scheme like people, which is exactly why the fables have been used to teach for more than two thousand years. Free PDF and EPUB editions are available to read and download.
