About this book
A dissatisfied Tiger challenges King Leo's right to rule the animals, and a forest meeting turns his complaint into a rebellion. Clifton Bingham tells the dispute in rhyming verse for children, giving the creatures the habits of politicians, traders and soldiers. The Fox sees a chance to profit by selling equipment, while the Owl records speeches and reports events.
The comedy grows from the gap between grand military language and animal behaviour. Rabbits worry about the weapons, an Ape keeps a grindstone busy, and the Elephant prepares his tusks for battle. Short titled episodes carry the story through petitions, drills and encounters on the plains of Zooland.
