About this book
The book is titled The Art of Paper-Making. Mr. Arnot is quoted as saying that upon the management of the beating-engine the character of the paper produced largely depends. Mr. Arnot also says that what is wanted is not a mincing or grinding of the fibre, but a drawing out or separation of the fibres one from another. Mr. Dunbar urges that none but thoroughly efficient men should be employed in this department, for it is here that the paper is really made.
The text also lists a book, On the Drainage of Lands, Towns, and Buildings, by G. D. Dempsey. The text says a German manufacturer sent a communication to the Papier Zeitung which may be interesting to the users of sulphite pulp.
