About this book
The Blue Man is by Mary Hartwell Catherwood and comes from "Mackinac And Lake Stories", 1899. The narrator sits on the west round rock, in a cove east of the Giant's Stairway. A man on the east round rock has a peculiar blueness of the skin. Madame Clementine is a Parisian whose house, set around three sides of a quadrangle, is a bit of artisan Paris.
Bones found in the cliff were reached by venturing down a pit as deep as a well and declared to be the remains of a woman's skeleton, and the bones were blue, tinged by a clay. An Indian girl was missed from the Mission school and never traced, and it was believed she met her fate in a rock crevasse. Madame Clementine declares that no blue man is ever in her house, and crosses herself.
