About this book
The Canadian Girl at Work is subtitled A Book of Vocational Guidance. The preface says the object of The Canadian Girl at Work is to assist girls in finding satisfactory employment. The preface adds that a further aim, showing what constitutes a right attitude toward work and toward life through work, underlies the account of each occupation.
The text says hundreds of thousands of girls and women are at work in the long-established women's employments, as factory workers, saleswomen and stenographers, among others. The text lists some of the questions a girl should ask herself when she is thinking of her employment, such as whether she shall be able to improve and become more skilful in her work, and whether the work will give her good companionship. The text says the cataloguer labels the books as they come in and prepares cards which will represent the books in the catalogue.
