About this book

Nine short stories gather here to display the many faces of Maurice Leblanc's gentleman thief. Across these tales, translated by Alexander Teixeira de Mattos, Arsene Lupin confides some of his cleverest exploits: outfoxing rival criminals, slipping past the police, solving puzzles that baffle everyone around him, and now and then revealing a more chivalrous side. Each story is a self-contained problem built around a bold theft or a hidden crime, and Lupin narrates several of them himself with obvious relish. First collected in French in 1913, the book makes a fine entry point for readers new to the character, combining detection, disguise, and Leblanc's light irony. Available as a free PDF and EPUB edition.
