About this book
The Crochet Book, Fourth Series is by Eléonore Riego de la Branchardière. The preface says the writer intended the series to comprise D’Oyley’s and Anti-Macassars, but at the request of many ladies was induced to present Collars. The contents list names a manchette, a chemisette and a crochet edging, among others.
The pattern called Le Bouquet de Fleurs lists Taylor’s Crochet Thread, No. 12, and Needle No. 23, Bell Gauge. The directions say that all stitches that are not worked in the chain are to be worked in Double Crochet. The First Small Leaf instruction says to make a chain of 10 stitches, turn, miss 4, and work 1 single in the 5th stitch to form a round loop. One set of directions says an edging is worked backwards and forwards and will be one inch and a half deep.
