About this book
The volume on The Acts of the Apostles discusses how overlapping lives can carry human memory across long spans of time. The discussion compares the extended lives of John Wesley's immediate disciples with those of apostles and immediate followers, some of whom lived well into the second century.
The author describes the Incarnation as an event that raises, for a believer, the whole level of its age and makes that time exceptional. The religious argument treats lesser heavenly manifestations as naturally accompanying the great manifestation of God in Christ. The author therefore accepts the narrative of an angel opening the prison doors for the Apostles without trying to explain it.
