About this book
The opening defines the Book of Concord, or Concordia, as the title of the symbols recognized and published under that name by the Lutheran Church. The explanation of a Christian symbol describes a mark by which Christians are known and associates the symbol with belief in the truths of the Gospel. The account of the Nicene Creed attributes its present form to a council's omissions, alterations and additions, particularly concerning the Holy Spirit.
An exchange records Strigel denying that he defends a definition Flacius has quoted from a recent edition. Andreae calls the Loci Communes of Melanchthon useful but says even a mild judgment must find the statements in a particular section dubious and ambiguous.
