About this book
The Female Quixote, by Charlotte Lennox, bears the additional title The Adventures of Arabella and presents itself in two volumes. Arabella calls the men around her cowards and traitors and urges them to deliver her, while the men seize Mr. Hervey and force him to alight. Mr. Hervey says that he does not understand Arabella and suggests that she has mistaken him for someone else or is amusing herself at his surprise.
Mr. Glanville objects to Sir George making his cousin an object of mirth and declares that he will not permit such liberties as her lover and relation. Arabella interprets her companions' silence as doubt and proceeds to cite instances of ladies receiving unexpected relief.
