About this book
The First Printed Translations into English of the Great Foreign Classics is a supplement to text-books of English literature. A list of entries gives, among others, Gudrun, Beowulf, The Song of Roland and Other Medieval Tales, dated 1881. A further entry is Admirable and Memorable Histories, Containing the Wonders of Our Time, credited to Simon Goulart.
An entry for Pierre de Ronsard, b. 1524, d. 1585, describes him as an eminent French poet. The text says Ronsard and Du Bellay are the two most important names of the 'Pléiade'. An alphabetical list of titles with page numbers includes, among others, Secrets and Wonders of the World, credited to Pliny, and Select Epigrams of Martial.
