About this book
The Golf Course Mystery is a book by Chester K. Steele. The contents list, among others, chapters titled "CAPTAIN POLAND CONFESSES", "THE PRIVATE SAFE" and "A LARGE BLONDE LADY". The book describes Maraposa as a social, as well as a golfing, club, and the scene of many dances and other affairs; it lay a few miles back from the shore near Lakeside, in New Jersey.
Garrigan says that someone has just bought a new ten thousand dollar French car, painted red, white and blue. A character named Viola says she believes some one killed him, and adds that she thinks the authorities have made a horrible mistake in detaining Mr. Bartlett. The book has a woman ask whether the marriage was legal, after all, and Colonel Ashley answer "Yes, Kate, it was," and "You are his lawful wife."
