About this book

When an eccentric inventor creates the 'Green Mouse,' a fantastical machine said to capture and transmit the psychic waves of love, it sets off a chain of comic romantic entanglements among a cast of well-to-do New Yorkers who find themselves mysteriously drawn together. Robert W. Chambers—far better known for the horror of The King in Yellow—here turns to light, whimsical comedy, blending pseudo-science, farce, and romance. Playful and charming, the novel offers a breezy Edwardian entertainment poking fun at fashionable society and the mysteries of attraction. A delightful curiosity from a versatile author, The Green Mouse is a frothy, good-humored romantic comedy of love engineered by machine.
