About this book
The Hanging Stranger is credited to Philip K. Dick and illustrated by Smith. Ed had always been a practical man, and when he saw something was wrong he tried to correct it. Ed Loyce, tired, washes up, gets his car out and heads across town toward his TV sales store at five o'clock.
Loyce, driving past the town park, sees something hanging from a lamppost, a shapeless dark bundle swinging a little with the wind, and finds that it is a body, a human body. Hope flickers in Loyce as he thinks that their control wasn't perfect, foolproof, and that maybe there were others. Loyce asks who the man was, saying he never saw him before and that he was a stranger, and the Commissioner says that Loyce may understand that too.
