Eckleton is a public school where one house has slid into disorder: Kay’s, undone by slack discipline, constant ragging, and a meddling housemaster. When Kennedy is transferred from orderly Blackburn’s to take charge as head of house, he inherits the mess, along with the talented Fenn, who has worn himself out trying to hold the place together. Wodehouse, still early in his career, writes with real warmth about school honor, loyalty, and the slow work of turning chaos into pride.
