About this book

Nikki Sixx kept a diary through 1986 and 1987, the years Motley Crue were at their commercial peak and he was at his worst, and this book prints those entries with later commentary from the people who were there: bandmates, his mother, his sister, the women around the band. Ian Gittins shaped it into a book. Sixx does not present the year as glamorous, and the entries are mostly repetitive, paranoid and bleak, which is the argument for printing them unedited. It reached number seven on the American bestseller list in its first week and has stayed in print since. Sixx later recorded an album to go with it under the band name Sixx:A.M.
