Nikki Sixx
Nikki Sixx, born Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna Jr. in 1958, is the bassist and main songwriter of Mötley Crüe, the Los Angeles band he founded in 1981. He is also a photographer and has hosted a syndicated radio show. His 2007 book, written with the journalist Ian Gittins, prints the diary he kept from Christmas 1986 to Christmas 1987 and sets beside each entry what the people around him remember of the same days, among them his bandmates, his manager and his mother. By the book's own account it covers the year his life came apart at the height of the band's success, and the long climb back that followed. He wrote a companion album for it, and the group he put together to record that album, Sixx:A.M., went on to make several more.
