About this book
The title page reads The History of Sulu, by Najeeb M. Saleeby, Manila, 1908. The contents give Chapter I as a geographical description of the Sulu archipelago, with the island of Sulu, the town of Jolo, trade and population; Chapter II as the genealogy of Sulu, with a translator's introduction and a Sulu author's introduction; and Chapter III as the rise and prosperity of Sulu, beginning with Sulu before Islam.
A geography passage describes the hills and forests of Tawi-tawi, its settlements and the boats built at Balimbang, and the small island group of Sibutu between Tawi-tawi and Borneo. Another passage describes a Spanish campaign at Maymbung under Governor Arolas. Another is an official document asking whether foreign subjects may take part in pearl fishing in the Sulu archipelago, and it refers to the Sulu Protocol.
