About this book
The Hunters of the Ozark is a book by Edward Sylvester Ellis. Fred speaks to his friend, who is walking behind him, and says that they made a mistake in not bringing their guns. An Irish lad raises his hand in a warning way. A cow-bell sounds faintly but clearly through the forest, and Fred says they are on the track of old Brindle.
The contents list chapters called A Struggle For Life and The Camp of the Winnebagos. The Shawanoe tells his companions that the utmost care must be used, since they were liable to stumble on the very ones whom they were anxious to avoid. The Shawanoe makes no answer to Terry's question and keeps looking among the coals.
