About this book
The Young Trail Hunters is credited to Samuel Woodworth Cozzens. A note in the book says that no book ever fascinated the writer like one of travel and adventure in Indian lands, where danger attends every step.
Hal Hyde and Ned Brown are described as two boys who had arrived from the East the night previous to the morning on which the story opens, and who had been sent to Texas to learn something of life upon a stock-ranche. Jerry utters a low whistle and says, Look behind you, will you; the teller turned and saw eight mounted Indians not more than a mile away. Patsey McQuirk is named in a running tirade of abuse, after the Mexican style, that includes the words So yez thought yez wouldn't cross the wathers, did yez.
