About this book
The Last Shot is a book by Frederick Palmer. A note to the reader says the story of war grew out of its writer's experience in many wars, and that the writer has been under fire without fighting. A character named Westerling says that since Lanstron became chief of intelligence of the Browns, information seems to have stopped. Bouchard says that Lanstron could hardly be reached though one spent a queen's ransom.
The book asks what if someone were to go on descending for hours, “yes, for days,” and says “Physical discomfort would overwhelm mental agony.” A man says to Marta, “As you say, that helps!”, with a nod toward the bandage on her forearm.
